This tablet application for children aged 6 to 12 years assists kids in primary schools throughout the Netherlands. The redesigned interface makes collaboration easier, assignments more visually appealing, and communication with each other and the teacher more accessible.

Two completely different user groups

The application must support both teachers and children, two target groups with a considerable contrast. For children, the app needed to be playful, inspiring, and visually engaging, while teachers required a powerful and clear tool. We provided each group with their own environment, but within the same context.

Teachers need to easily assign tasks to their class. Instead of dull lists, we designed 'cards' for different subjects like math, reading, and writing. Completed assignments, reviewed by the teacher, are stored in the student's portfolio. This creates a nice, visual overview of achievements!

We have created an environment where children can collaborate not only with their class but also in spontaneous, smaller groups within that class. Without complicated interactions, it feels like they are creating their own mini-world, with the same possibilities as the larger world around them.
